Emmanuel's first service was held
September 23, 1990 at the Sunrise Funeral home in Prescott Valley. For
the first ten months, we were a satellite operation out of American
Lutheran Church in Prescott. During
that time, pastoral leadership was provided by Rev. Myrus Knutson
(7 months) and Rev. Don Fischer (3 months).
In July 1991, the ELCA Division for
Outreach placed Rev. Dan Kilts as full-time Mission Developer. A charter was opened and over the next twelve months, 110 individuals signed the charter. Emmanuel
officially chartered as a congregation on September 20, 1992.
In 1992, the ELCA Mission Investment Fund purchased
nearly 4 acres of land on the corner of Loos and Long Look from the
Fain Group. Emmanuel was encouraged to begin the process of
purchasing the land from the ELCA in 1994.
Emmanuel's first
building committee was established in January 1996 and $105,000
was raised in May of that year to secure ownership of that land.
Finally
after 12 years, Emmanuel Lutheran broke ground
on that land and begun building a new facility to worship
in. Emmanuel
held it's fist worship service in the new facility on 2 March 2003.
